Bayer launches Supradyn prenatal nutrition range to address maternal deficiencies in India

Supradyn Mom’s and Supradyn Naturals Calcium+ introduced during National Nutrition Week to support preconception, pregnancy, and lactation needs

Bayer’s Consumer Health Division announced its entry into the prenatal nutrition segment with the launch of Supradyn Mom’s and Supradyn Naturals Calcium+ under its multivitamin brand Supradyn®. The launch was made as part of National Nutrition Week.

According to Bayer, the new range is aimed at addressing nutritional deficiencies among women in India during preconception, pregnancy, and lactation. Nearly 60 per cent of women in India are anaemic, while over 70 per cent suffer from calcium deficiency, directly impacting maternal and child health. Iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) contributes to economic losses of up to 1.18 per cent of India’s GDP.

Nutritional demands during pregnancy significantly increase, with iron requirements rising from 4–6 mg per day in early pregnancy to 10 mg per day during the final weeks. Calcium needs nearly double to support foetal bone growth and prevent complications such as preeclampsia, low birth weight, and maternal bone loss.

India welcomes 23 million newborns annually. Bayer noted that deficiencies during pregnancy can lead to long-term outcomes, including undernourished mothers, stunted children, and continuation of the intergenerational cycle of malnutrition.

The company’s new prenatal line includes:

  • Supradyn Mom’s: A prenatal supplement with iron, folic acid, vitamin B6, B12, copper, and zinc, designed to go beyond traditional iron-folic acid supplementation.
  • Supradyn Naturals Calcium+: A blend of calcium, vitamin D2, and magnesium, supporting foetal bone development and maternal bone health.

Bayer stated that these products align with national priorities such as Mission Poshan 2.0 and aim to strengthen maternal and child health outcomes with science-backed supplementation.

Commenting on the launch, Sandeep Verma, Cluster Head, South Asia – Bayer Consumer Health, said:
“India is at a pivotal point in its development journey. Ensuring the health of mothers and future generations is essential to our nation’s progress. With Supradyn’s new prenatal range, Bayer reaffirms its commitment to providing affordable, science-proven solutions that empower women to take charge of their health and give their children the best possible start in life.”
