India’s nutraceutical ascent: Mumbai summit sparks new global health economy

Key discussions focused on scaling M&A, AI-driven instant commerce, and accelerated global launches of novel functional products

The NutrifyToday C-Suite SumFlex 2025 convened in Mumbai, gathering a meticulously curated network of international decision-makers across pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, venture capital, public policy, and medical sciences. The summit has catalysed momentum toward India’s bold goal: a $ 100 billion nutraceutical industry by 2047.

SumFlex 2025 brought together power players from six nations — including the United States, South Korea, and Malaysia — in a geopolitical climate where global integration is both urgent and fragile.

“What we witnessed at SumFlex 2025 was not an industry event — it was a declaration of purpose,” said Amit Srivastava, Founder, Nutrify Today. “We are no longer chasing growth for the sake of scale. We are architecting a future where responsible nutrition becomes the right of every global citizen. This is not commerce. This is karma in action.”

India’s wellness gold rush: Echoes of early 2000s America

The event marked a critical inflection point for India’s nutraceutical landscape, now experiencing what many compare to the US sector’s breakout moment in the early 2000s. Back then, America’s nutraceutical market surpassed $ 15 billion — a moment India is mirroring with $ 18 billion in 2023, growing at a robust 13.5 per cent CAGR, per Invest India.

With the rollout of Project One Future and a growing integration into the $ 3 trillion global food and nutrition supply chain, India is not just scaling — it is leading.

“India is no longer just a manufacturing base — it is emerging as the mind and soul of the global nutraceutical ecosystem,” said Dr Anand Swaroop, President, Cepham USA.“ At SumFlex, we saw the convergence of science, policy, and investment like never before. The $100 billion vision is not a dream anymore — it is an evolving reality powered by collaboration and conviction,” he added.

Rural inclusion meets global scale

Dr Nitin Pangotra, General Secretary of India Chambers and advisor to the Ministry of MSME, announced a Memorandum of Understanding with the Rural Economic Forum. The objective: to integrate rural micro-enterprises into the growing nutraceutical value chain — from farm to finished dosage — unlocking both economic empowerment and global trade access.

Global business elite in one room

The summit featured an unprecedented assembly of business luminaries, including:

  • Shivam Puri, MD & CEO, Cipla Health
  • Ganesh Nayak, Executive Director, Zydus Group
  • Amal Kelshikar, Executive Director, Torrent Pharma
  • Dipanjan Basu, Co-founder & Partner, Fireside Ventures
  • Anil Matai, President, OPPI
  • Shantaprasad Nagarmath, CEO, Dr. Reddy’s & Nestlé Health Science
  • Sanjaya Mariwala, Executive Chairman, Omniactive Health
  • Saif Mekhri, CEO, BiogenExtracts
  • Suresh Garg, MD, Zeon Lifesciences
  • Tim Opler, Managing Director, Stifel
  • William Hood, Managing Director, William Hood & Company
  • Heather Wainer, Chief Business Officer, WholeFoods Magazine
  • Dr Bharat Shah, Chief Nephrologist, Gleneagles Hospitals
  • Dr Narendra Malhotra, MD, Ujala Cygnus Rainbow Hospitals

Key discussions focused on scaling M&A, AI-driven instant commerce, and accelerated global launches of novel functional products. One highlight was the debut of Dealsphere.NutrifyToday.com — the world’s first platform enabling in-licensing and commercialisation of innovation within 15 days.

Strategic launchpad for responsible innovation

SumFlex 2025 became a preferred launchpad for responsible commercialization.

Dr. Reddy’s and Nestlé Health Science chose the summit to unveil Celevida Diafiber, a next-generation medical nutrition product aimed at metabolic health. This move cemented SumFlex as the industry’s prestige platform for strategic product introductions.

Also launched was Rx.NutrifyToday.com, the world’s first reference tool for medical doctors to verify nutraceutical claims. Currently open-access, its October 2025 iteration will be physician-exclusive, offering insights into ingredient safety, MoAs, and toxicology.

SumFlex’s format aimed to prioritise high-conviction dealmaking, purpose-driven conversations, and outcome-based engagement replaced traditional networking fluff.

From AI-enabled deals to startup-to-exit roadmap sessions, the C-Suite format proved itself as a premium RoI vehicle for C-level executives, investors, and policy architects.

SumFlex 2025 didn’t end with applause — it launched a new standard.“This is not an initiative. This is a legacy in motion. This is NutrifyToday,” concluded Amit Srivastava.
